The government has set August 15 as the deadline for all the 8,838 villages to go digital.In an exclusive interview to Telangana Today, Jupally Krishna Rao, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, said that the e-Panchayats would help people in their daily life and that they will not have to run after the officials for payment of bills or obtaining certificates from now on.
How does the e-Panchayat work?
It helps in several ways. Villagers can approach Gram Panchayats for all their documentary needs. They will get all the documents the same day at nominal charges. To make the system transparent we are also planning to include names and work chart of contractors.
How is the TRS government ensuring rural connectivity?
For the first time in the country, without any request from the concerned public representatives, the TRS government in one go sanctioned laying of roads connecting villages to mandal headquarters. For this, the government earmarked Rs 20,000 crore.
What is the role of PR in strengthening the rural economy?
Already in several schemes, the Panchayat Raj Department is directly and indirectly involved. For instance, Aasara pensions. Once the Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha works are completed, reverse migration will take place. Rural connectivity will also improve the marketing facilities.
Any guidelines framed for single women pension?
Yes. As assured by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, pensions to single women will be given on the State Formation Day on June 2. Guidelines have been issued and the department officials are busy identifying the beneficiaries. Pensions will also be given to beedi workers.
Any proposal to provide pucca buildings to Gram Panchayats?
The department has sanctioned 2,000 new buildings for Gram Panchayats and works are underway. Buildings will be constructed in spacious premises to conduct review meetings, video conferences and facilitate functioning of e-Panchayats.
What is the summer action plan for workers under the EGS?
Nearly 14 lakh workers are enrolled under the Employment Guarantee Scheme. We are taking due care by providing drinking water, healthcare centres and shelters at work places. We are asking the Centre to interlink EGS works with agriculture. The proposal is still pending.
