In a blow to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), an exodus of its Telangana leaders into the TRS has begun. Two TDP MLAs and an MLC said on Tuesday that they would join the TRS amidst indications that at least another 10 more legislators are to join either the TRS or any other party.
The TDP has 38 MLAs in the Telangana region.
TDP MLAs K S Ratnam (Chevella), P Mahender Reddy (Tandur) and MLC P Narender Reddy on Tuesday met TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao in Delhi and pledged their support to him.
They are expected to join the TRS at a public function to be held in Ranga Reddy district shortly.
“Telangana would not have become a reality had it not been for KCR’s efforts and he is the only leader who can build the new state. So, we have decided to join the TRS,” Mahender Reddy told the media after meeting KCR.
Welcoming the legislators into his party, Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao said many more leaders from other parties including the TDP will be joining the TRS.
“With the joining of these three in the TRS, our party will be further strengthened in Ranga Reddy district. Several TDP leaders from Telangana are in touch with us. Many of them will soon join our party,” he said.
Describing the TDP as the party of Seemandhra, KTR said there was no place for such political parties in Telangana.
While Telugu Desam Party MLA G Nagesh (Boath) has already announced that he would soon join the TRS, speculations are rife that party seniors such as Errabelli Dayakar Rao, L Ramana, Motkupalli Narasimhulu, G Jaipal Yadav, Kothakota Dayakar Reddy, K Seeta Dayakar Reddy and P Ramulu might also desert the party to join either the Telangana Rashtra Samiti or the Bharatiya Janata Party.
